Once you arrive, use the available tube to enter your subconscious again. You'll be presented with another time pad puzzle, your final one. Hop over to the first floating platform. You'll notice that in this area, the pieces of the time pad that allow you to make recordings are spaced out along several ledges. You can solve this final time pad puzzle using the process outlined below.
ratchet and clank a crack in time puzzle solutions
You'll encounter a time puzzle. Start recording on the yellow pad, step on the button in the middle and stop recording. Start recording on the green pad, step on the button in the chamber that Yellow Clank opened and stop recording. Start recording on the red pad. Step on the button on the right, wait for a second or 2, step off it and stop recording.
If you've timed the yellow Clank correctly, the elevator will be down by the time you get there and you'll be taken to the higher platform, at which point you can walk through the door when it opens. You'll get 4,000 bolts for completing this puzzle.
You're now in the Quantum Annex 1 chamber, which is blessed by the presence of another time pad puzzle. To solve this one, first step onto the blue portion of the pad and create a recording of yourself walking over to the red button to the left. End the recording with that action. Now step onto the time pad's yellow portion and create a recording wherein you walk over to the red button to the right of the pad, then step on it. End that recording and now it's time to step onto the time pad's green portion. Record yourself moving forward through the doorway that the other two Clanks have opened. When you pass through, you'll be showered in bolts and the area's first objective is considered complete as you step into the Orientation Room.
Now head forward along the ledge and you will see a spinning circular platform out to the right. Leap over to it, then from there jump to the higher ledge and pass through an archway. You'll now find yourself in a room with a new time pad puzzle.
This puzzle can be solved by first stepping on the blue time pad piece and recording yourself walking over to the switch just to the left. Once the door opens, end that recording. Now step onto the yellow portion of the pad and start recording. Run over to the button just to the right and stand on it for seven or eight seconds, then leave it in favor of the button in the left chamber. Once you step on that, end this second recording. Now it's time to make a third recording. Step onto the green portion of the pad and run forward toward a pillar that is lowered when the yellow version of Clank steps on the button along the room's right side. Ride that pillar up to a nearby button, then leap over to it and stand on it. Now end the recording. Finally, you'll need to make a fourth recording. Step onto the blue portion of the time pad and begin recording. Run over to the button just to the left and stand there, watching the yellow version of Clank as it crosses the room and comes to a halt in the left chamber. Meanwhile, the green Clank above will make his way to the shift on higher ground. Now you should see a door open that you can pass through to complete the puzzle.
With the second of the area's planets repaired, it's time to seek out the third. Head around the back side of the planet, where you defeated the flying enemies. There's a gap here, which you can now cross by making your way along floating ledges that have newly appeared. Remember to be ready and deflect shots from a cannon positioned along one of those ledges. When you reach the far side, head along the ledge to the left and defeat some more of the slug-like enemies and some flying drones. Defeating all of these nasties should be second nature by now. Next you'll come to another time pad puzzle.
This is an easy puzzle to solve. First step on the green portion of the time pad. Record yourself walking over to the red switch just to the right and stepping on it. Leave the recording running until the next ledges fly into place. Now stop the recording. Step onto the blue tile and begin recording again. Let the green Clank summon the ledges, then leap and hover your way across the gap using the moving platforms. When you reach the far side, you'll be showered in bolts and can proceed toward a door (though you may want to stop and bust apart some crates for easy bolts).
Now you'll find another large room with a new time pad puzzle. To solve this one, start by stepping onto the green portion of the pad. Start recording, wait until the timer counts down to 52, then run forward and step onto the red button. Stop the recording. Now step onto the yellow pad and begin recording. Run toward the right, where the platform is lowered to ground level. Step onto it and wait for the yellow recording to step on the switch. This will carry you to higher ground, where you can quickly step left and stand on a switch. Wait for the ledge below to rise to your level, pause for a few more seconds, then run back around the shielding wall toward two switches located to the left. Step onto the nearest one and some enemies will start out to meet you. Quickly defeat them, then step back onto the switch and end the recording. Now you need to begin your third recording, back at ground level. Step onto the blue portion of the pad and begin your recording. Run left to the lowered ledge and wait for it to be raised to a higher altitude. Now jump and glide over to the nearby ledge. Step onto the button directly ahead and watch while the yellow Clank defeats the enemies then steps back to its switch. Now end the recording. You now need to make one final recording. Step onto the yellow portion of the time pad again. Create a recording wherein you let your yellow recording start forward toward the area to the right. As soon as it arrives on the lowered platform, quickly run forward and hit the switch. Now watch to the left. As the platform there starts to lower, you need to run and jump onto it. Then ride it to the top and hop across the gap. On the opposite side, let the yellow clone take care of the enemies, then watch both clones step onto the two switches. The doors on the far end of the chamber will open now and you can run through them to complete the puzzle. Whew!
A Crack in Time game features both returning and new gameplay mechanics to the Ratchet & Clank series. One such mechanic involves the Chronosceptor: A staff that repairs broken objects when you hit a broken object with it. This device may also be used like Ratchet's wrench, to fight off enemies.[5] By using special "time pads", Clank can also record up to a minute of his actions and then a holographic Clank replays them, while the real Clank does something else. Up to four copies of Clank can be recorded at a time. These holographic Clanks can help to solve puzzles.[6] In addition to gadgets like the Swingshot and Gravity Boots from previous games,[7] Ratchet has a pair of hoverboots, allowing him to move more quickly around planets and moons.[8]
GamePro reviewer Will Herring felt that the game's camera angles were problematic at times, a statement echoed by Joe Rybicki of GameSpy,[22] but praised its new innovations, calling the hoverboots one of the game's "most enjoyable additions [to the series]".[20] Rybicki found the game's weapon selection "lackluster", especially early in the game, while praising some of the time-based Clank levels.[22] Dan Ryckert, of Game Informer, said that "the Clank sections are the best puzzles seen in the series to date".[7]
With that said, the follow-up does offer improvements, starting with the structure. The game is less linear with intertwining narratives and more elaborate starship travel. When apart, Ratchet and Clank play differently, with the former focused on the familiar running and gunning and the latter centered on time puzzles.
A Crack in Time is a third person action adventure game with elements of shooting, role playing, platforming, puzzle solving and open space exploration. It allows Ratchet to explore several areas in space with the Aphelion, completing side missions on moons and travelling to planets within star sectors. Ratchet is able to wield several new weapons in battle, including Constructo Weapons that can be customized fully. While devices from Tools of Destruction are not present, both the Groovitron and Mr. Zurkon which previously featured as devices are featured as weapons, and can be upgraded along with other weapons. Clank has completely new gameplay based around his own time powers, using his temporal recordings to solve puzzles and the Chronoscepter to defeat enemies, rather than simply commanding units as in previous games.
Even better are the time pads. You stand on one and "record" your actions in time. Then you stand on the other and interact with your past self going through its actions. In the simplest puzzles you stand on a pressure-sensitive switch for yourself so you can walk through a door. In the more intricate puzzles you have to record sections of your performances multiple times in a type of choreographed dance to get to where you're going, often using the time explosives in multiple ways.
It's a game mechanic that's hard to describe in words, and wrapping your head around it inside the game isn't much easier when it's first described with an example or two. You have to play with it and bend time to your will before you see just how ingenious the whole thing is. The puzzles begin simply and grow harder as the game moves on. The use of time is done very well and elevates what we've played of the game from another platforming experience to something truly special.
Insomniac considered this the series peak. It went out to make the final and ultimate Ratchet & Clank. A Crack in Time ticked every box in the franchise DNA, and then some. There was space flight and battles between the planets. There was time-being puzzles, and even small spherical worlds to explore. It also concluded the story, and did so by killing the villain - Dr Nefarious - by smashing him into a space station. 2ff7e9595c
